The Alegeri.TV interviews were viewed by over 15,000 people in just 20 days.
Alegeri.TV started in April 2009 the “Communicate with euro-parliamentarians through Alegeri.TV” campaign, the most extensive on-line election interview ever made in Romania. After the collection, classification and centralization of all users’ questions during the first stage, the transmission of the 10 questions to all the candidates in the June 7 European elections followed. Subsequently, Alegeri.TV participated in the third and last stage, the publication of the candidates’ responses.
The Alegeri.TV team started in April 2009 the biggest election interview between future Euro-parliamentarians and Internet users.
The presentation of the first 15 interviews generated the expected interest in the last month and recorded almost 40,000 unique visitors, directly interested in building an opinion about candidates in the European elections.
In the last year, the number of unique visitors has exceeded 330.000, which makes Alegeri.TV the most important impartial political channel of information and dialogue online. Officials estimate site traffic increased by 8-10 times in the days preceding the election.
The Alegeri.TV phenomenon becomes interesting from another point of view. Launched in 2007 as a candor project, the targeted audience consists of voters who have Internet access at work or home, with a relatively good financial situation, and who have not yet defined a political affiliation and usually do not access on-line pages of political parties or candidates’ blogs.
This audience is extremely relevant in that it can become a former of opinions in an area in which the results of public policy have not convinced in the last 10 years, and because of that, the interest in participating in the voting process has dropped considerably in recent years. In this context, forming a positive opinion of the undecided voters about a candidate may lead to his or her decisive success in the elections for the European Parliament.
We have managed in 3 years to develop a communication channel and an important alternative to traditional means of information through which politicians can enter a dialogue with a relevant social category. This category of the electorate doesn't have a clear affinity for a political party or a candidate and by that, this group of voters has a high potential in influencing the results in any elections in Romania.
