Between May 18 and 19, 2007, Zitec will take part in the “eLiberatica – The Benefits of Open and Free Technologies” conference, and will be among the sponsors of the events.

By supporting this important event, Zitec establishes itself as a constant supporter of the Open Source and Free Software phenomenon in Romania. The “eLiberatica – The Benefits of Open & Free Technologies” (www.eliberatica.ro) conference will take place between May 18 and 19, 2007, in Brasov, organized by ROSI group (Romanian Open Source and Free Software Initiative) in collaboration with Agora Media. The conference aims at supporting the Open Source and Free Software community in Romania by emphasizing the benefits of Open Source and Free Software solutions.

Among the lecturers that have confirmed their participation, we will mention Rasmus Lerdorf (the father of PHP which is used by over 22 million websites), Monty Widenius (the main designer and supervisor of MySQL, the most popular DBMS open source), Brian Behlendorf (one of the initiators of Apache, the server that supports over 60% of the web), Zak Greant (the OS/FS evangelist, the representative of Mozilla Foundation – the creators of the most widespread free and open source browser in the world).

Aside from all of the above, there will also be presentations by: Jim Willis (Director of eGovernment and Information Technology, Rhode Island, USA), Aleksander Farstad (OS/FS entrepreneur, founder and CEO of eZ systems), Kurt von Finck (on behalf of GNOME foundation and those who develop the distribution of Ubuntu), Bogomil Shopov (a supporter of OS/FS in Bulgaria, and coordinator of WebTech and OpenFest events).

On the occasion of this event, Zitec will organize competitions that will award prizes consisting of Zend PHP 5 certification, Zend Studio Professional licenses, as well as various PHP promotional materials. Zend is responsible for the creation and promotion of the well-known web platform for the development of PHP applications (together with The Zend Group), and Zitec is its sole representative in Romania.
